Education Code 37.082

School District policy may adopt a policy prohibiting a student from possessing a paging device while on school property or school-sponsored or school related activity on or off school property. Policy may provide for confiscation of the paging device. 

1. Dispose of confiscated paging device after 30 days notice to the student’s parent and company.

2. Charge the owner or the student’s parent an administrative fee not to exceed $15.

* You must provide notice of this law if you intend to follow it. Post notice in Student Handbooks and in a well traveled school hallway. Do not underestimate the amount of revenue your school could raise. This does not prohibit car phones in cars parked on school property.
